The Nordic Council wants to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from politicians’ business trips by 70 percent until 2030 compared to 2019. More digital meetings and trains rather than flights when the journey is a maximum of five to six hours, reports Sweden’s Radio Ekot.
For business trips by Swedish government authorities, the corresponding target is 50 percent.
After the sharp decline during the pandemic, trips for politicians and government officials increased by 170 percent between 2021 and 2022.
