Nooshi Dadgostar reacts to

This evening, several masked men stormed an anti-fascist meeting organized by the Left Party and the Green Party.
When the Left Party’s party leader Nooshi Dadgostar arrives at the scene, she is upset.
– It is reprehensible and it must not happen in a democracy, she says to TV4 Nyheterna.

At around 19.00 the police and ambulance were called to Gubbängen, southern Stockholm.

Several masked men attacked a political meeting organized by the Left Party in Enskede and the Environmental Party in Enskede-Årsta-Vantör.

– They sprayed paint and gas on some who tried to stop them and threw chairs around the room, says a person who was at the meeting to TV4 Nyheterna.

Upset

When the leader of the Left Party arrives, she is upset.

– They have been attacked because they have had a completely normal meeting. It is disgusting and completely unacceptable. I will now go in and talk to them about how they feel after the shocking attack that we have seen today, she says

But Dadgostar does not yet know exactly what has happened.

– That’s what I’m going to find out now, I’m going to talk to our members. They have had a meeting about the equal value of all people and have been attacked by what appear to be Nazis. One person, from what I understand, has been abused and I thought I’d talk to him here today about how he’s doing.

“Attack on our democracy”

And there are several politicians who condemn what happened tonight.

“The attacks on the political event in Gubbängen tonight are a direct attack on our democracy and the right to organize ourselves. My thoughts are with those affected.
Right-wing extremists want to scare us into silence. They should never be allowed to succeed,” writes Magdalena Andersson, party leader of the Social Democrats, on X.

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson also condemns the attack.

“It is appalling information that a meeting held by the Left Party has been stormed. I have contacted Nooshi Dadgostar and offered my deepest support. This type of reprehensible action has no place in our free and open society,” he tells TT .
