18-year-old Noor Al Jabiri, from Södertälje, completely floors the jury and the audience in Talent 2023 with his interpretation of Katy Perry’s song “The one that got away”. She has rewritten the text, which is now about the struggle with mental illness.
– I have had problems with depression for several years, she tells the program.
Singing about mental illness
Noor developed bulimia and with her song wants to get more people with mental illness to seek help.
– It is an ongoing battle, but you must dare to seek help.
When she starts singing, the whole audience is shocked by Noor’s strong voice.
– Wow, very good! exclaims Viktor Norén.
Moves Helena to tears
Her singing moves Helena Bergström to tears. The entire jury praises Noor after the performance and says a clear yes.
– I am incredibly touched. I think you are incredibly important, says Helena and thanks Noor for making it to Talang.
– You are a brilliant singer. You stand for something so crazy important, Helena continues and presses the golden buzzer – which sends Noor straight to the final!
