Nooralotta Neziri believes in Reetta Hurske’s European championship – points out the hardness of the SE era: “Many don’t necessarily understand”

Nooralotta Neziri believes in Reetta Hurskes European championship points

Nooralotta Neziri was surprised by her promising speed in the smooth 60 meters. He misses the athletics EC halls.

Struggles with injuries in the last couple of years Nooralotta Neziri opened his reign promisingly on Sunday in Tampere. Instead of the hurdles, he ran the 60-meter straight, where he fell just four hundredths short of his record of 7.40 eight years ago.

Neziri says he’s had quite a few bumps in the road lately. He returned to Finland from the camp in Tenerife a week ago.

– I had bad food poisoning at the end of the camp in the south. After that there was a little witch dart. However, I thought that otherwise it’s a good feeling, so let’s start, Neziri tells Urheilu.

In the last couple of years, Nezir has missed the Tokyo Olympics, the World Championships in Oregon and the European Championships in Munich. The athlete from Pori has rehabilitated during the hall period from his surgery in August, where he had an operation on a bone spike in his heel.

– I surprised myself in a very positive way, Neziri refers to the time 7.44.

– I pulled almost full-speed bets for the first time only at the camp. Before that I had made 90% bets in Pori. Considering that, it can be said that it was an excellent performance.

EC halls will be missed

Neziri says he is still in the rehabilitation process. He hasn’t really practiced with fences.

– In the middle of December, I put on spikes for the first time. After next week, it is planned to include hurdles as usual. Hurdling is harder on the tendons and joints in a certain way than smooth running.

– January was a time when I could do pretty much everything. Another challenge at the camp was that I haven’t used my power for ages. It felt like a muscle hurt. We had to be careful, Neziri adds.

Hall competitions are therefore a side story for Nezir. He is not aiming for the European Championships held at the beginning of March, whose score limit of 8.03 he broke last winter.

He will compete in the SM halls next weekend in the 60-meter straight, where he will aim for a record improvement. The 30-year-old Neziri is thirsty to break his 100-meter hurdles record (12.81) set almost seven years ago.

– It makes more sense to train towards the summer. I have run good indoor seasons before, but haven’t been able to run since the summer. It’s not worth it now.

“Surprising result”

Neziri was still the SE woman in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 7.91 before the hall season, but with a fierce temper Reetta Hurske has broken it four times already. The most recent record quotation of 7.81 was seen on Wednesday.

Neziri has happily followed the ride of his fierce competitor. On Sunday, he met Hurskek’s coach Marjukka Suihkon.

– I went to hug and congratulate. I said that it was an amazing result. Many people do not necessarily understand that 7.81 is absolutely freezing as a board result. One can only take my hat off.

Both Neziri and Hurske have been at best fourth in the EC halls. He trusts that Hurske will win medals this time.

– I believe that Reetta will win European Championship gold.

– This hall season has been incredible anyway. A medal would be the icing on the cake. Better not think about any investments, but he has every chance to do well there.
