Noora Vuorela puts the helmet on her head both in the mornings at the shipyard and in the evenings with TPS paint. The everyday life of a floorball goalie is busy and also consuming, but family and the joy of playing bring strength. Now he is ready to make history in the Finnish Championship finals.

The flame of the welding whistle flashes inside the Icon of the Seas ship at the Turku shipyard when the sheet metal welder Noora Vuorela, 27, is accustomed to handling his tools. Vuorela is used to a masculine work environment and physical work supports her second career well.
Namely, the coverall and helmet of Vuorela’s morning shift often change a little lighter in the evenings, when he puts on the equipment of the floorball guard and settles between the poles.
The mere combination of morning shifts with an evening-focused league life requires the player to stretch, but when this is combined with family life with an elementary school child, it sometimes requires miracles.
Vuorela is used to stretching both in civil and on the playing field. The goalkeeper, who turns 28 in May, has been one of the most important, if not the most important, players on the TPS league team. He slammed the balls in the regular season with an 80 percent rebound and in the playoffs he has played all TPS matches with a 90.4 rebound.
TPS has surprised many this season, and right at the start of the playoffs, Vuorela proved to be the backbone of his team in the playoffs. Last season’s finalist, SB-Pro from Nurmijärvi, collapsed in the semi-finals, and the people of Turku, who left as sub-defendants in the semi-finals, dropped out of the final.
TPS rose to the women’s main league level for the first time in the 2007–2008 season and in honor of the 13th season, the team has secured the first Finnish Championship medal in its history and is playing in the Finnish championship. The reigning champion Porvoo Floorball Club will face him.
– This is a really big deal. I’ve been running Teps for over a decade and there are a lot of friends out there with whom we’ve been trying to accomplish this. Now it has finally been achieved. We deserve to be in the finals, Vuorela tells Sports.
“When you weld, you can only be enchanted by it”
Vuorela stands under the ship. With production started last June, the ship should be ready in 2023, so the goalkeeper is busy on the work front. In Vuorela’s opinion, it is the rush of work that is good during the finals, because when she is at work, she does not have time to excite about future games.
– The most nice thing about this job is that it is really quite relaxed and comfortable. Time passes quickly and there is no time to get excited. He gets excited at home, he laughs.
– At least you don’t have to think about anything here. When you weld, you can just be enchanted by that welding and let go.
Vuorela once studied economics, but said a couple of years ago To the skull site (go to another service) he quickly noticed that a neat interior job at the office desk didn’t suit him. Now Vuorela can enjoy outdoor work in any weather, and there are so many steps during the day that she is guaranteed to stay in good physical condition.
MilaVuorela got her daughter when she was 19 years old. She had won the youth world championship a year earlier and only half a year after giving birth, Vuorela returned between the poles again.
In the evenings the forces are over – fortunately there is help around
In the morning at the dock, during the day with the child and in the evening floorball. Vuorela is a master of scheduling and luckily he also has support forces to help him.
– Every day you get to think and stress a little about who is taking care of the child, whether the child is going to the training or what is being done. We are doing well. My parents and my cohabiting spouse help a lot to get things done.
Vuorela admits that it is time to end in the evenings – especially if there have been doubles games over the weekend. At times, he has even wondered how miraculously he can handle this rollout, but finds himself on the playing field again year after year.
– These are things I like to do and I enjoy these a lot. I draw strength for the most part from the child and my own family, floorball and friends.
Vuorela trusts young people’s solutions
At the time of the interview, spring has not arrived in Turku, as the shipyard is windy and blowing. Vuorela can escape the snow appropriately under the ship or in its hull, but in the upcoming floorball finals she will not hide. His voice is accustomed to carrying on the field as he directs TPS field players.
Vuorela has been lucky because her employer understands the demands of top-level sports. If Vuorela has needed flexibility in shifts due to camps or games, he has got it. During the finals, he will have to go to work normally.
– I probably have to leave Porvoo earlier, so I have to talk to the bosses a bit if I can leave earlier.
TPS’s final opponent PSS has been the top club in the women’s league for many years, but the club only won its first championship last season. The Porvoo team only decided on the championship in the seventh final with penalty shots.
This year, PSS was number one in Group A with 55 points, while TPS was number two with 47 points. The duo already faced in the Finnish Cup final and at that time PSS defeated TPS, but only after extra time with goals 3–2. In the regular season, PSS won two and TPS one match.
Vuorela believes that the people of Porvoo can be stopped, because there are many greedy players on the Turku team. It has already been reflected in the regular season statistics, where, among other things Milla Nordlund TPS held the top three on the top of the goal and score statistics and in the feed exchange.
– We have a really powerful team. I think we can do a lot of power and finish well. The young players will come out at this end and decide for us this final series, Vuorela assured and also knew what he has to do on his own plot.
– Simply fight all the balls. Play calmly and confidently. Support players, talk a lot and be helpful.
According to Vuorela, you can also enjoy these final moments despite the civilian hustle and bustle. He thinks a little excitement before the game is best.
– Then you know that an important thing is for yourself. It brings extra power to your own doing. And yes you can enjoy it too.
