Noomi, 7, was playing at preschool – found a bag of amphetamines

Five days ago, Noomi, 7, was out playing with a friend at Hagadal’s preschool in Tranås. There she finds a bag with a white powder.

– I find the bag and start working with it and so on. Then my sister came and asked what it was, and then she smelled it.

“It smelled really strong”

Big sister Nikki, 11, sensed immediately that something was not right.

– I almost got angry. At first I thought it was just a bag of flour, but then when I smelled it, I realized something was wrong, says Nikki.

– It smelled really strong, she adds.

Nikki told their father about the bag containing a white, slightly sticky powder that smelled like marijuana, which matched the police description of amphetamine.

– The first thing you think is not immediately that it would be a bag of drugs that you find at a preschool. Nikki told me about the find Noomi had made and I initially had a little trouble thinking that it could actually be like that, says Håkan Nyborg, who is the father of the sisters, and adds:

– Once I got the bag, I realized that these were drugs and I was upset and surprised. But this very thing that my daughters or anyone else’s children should not have to find drugs. It’s just lucky that the preschool is closed for summer break.

“Getting worried”

Håkan Nyborg also urges parents and adults to keep an extra eye in public places, such as parks and preschools, as there is a growing problem with drugs in society.

– Children are curious and want to feel, squeeze and taste. The worst of accidents could have happened. It goes without saying that it’s not a very good combination, so of course I get worried, says the father.

The sisters say that in retrospect it feels scary that they found the bag.

The police have not collected the bag

The family contacted the police to report the drug discovery.

– Dad said we needed to call the police and then it took a long time for them to answer. But then they answered and then the police asked if we could come and leave the bag. But the station was closed so they said they would come pick it up the next day. But they never came to collect it, says Nikki.

Håkan Nyborg says that the police station in Tranås is closed until further notice, which it has been for a long time. Now they have had to keep the bag of drugs at home.

– As a private person, I am not very happy with having such a preparation at home and now it has been about four to five days.

He also emphasizes that it is sad that there are not enough resources for the blue light staff.

– We’ll see what happens, I might flush the substance down the toilet soon if no one picks it up, he says.
