The Men’s F-League, i.e. floorball’s Main Series, got a delicious decision on Saturday evening. Nokian KrP beat Classic 4–3 and grabbed the first regular season win in their club history.

– Everyone wants to be in that top spot, and we deserved it now. Fortunately, we got help from others when we needed it, KrP’s head coach Janne Kainulainen said after the match.

The Nokians rose from 3rd place to the top in the final round, when the Oilers from Espoo beat the regular season leader Turku Palloseura 6–5. Classic from Tampere was second in the series, but with the loss and the victory over Happe from Jyväskylä, the team was fourth. Happee took third place in the regular season.

Nokian KrP won the regular season for the first time, while the team overthrew the Classic dynasty. The team from Tampere had won the regular season of the men’s floorball league seven times in a row. In the 2014–15 season, the title was won by Happee from Jyväskylä.

The playoffs begin on Wednesday, March 15. According to head coach Kainulainen, KrP is not satisfied with the regular season win, but the last season’s silver medal is left behind. The goal is nothing other than the championship, Kainulainen stated.

– Game-wise, we are in a pretty good shape. Now we need more of a spiritual side. The boys have practiced and played really well. Now you have to trust your own story, which clichédly gets you to the end.

The semifinal pairs were chosen on Saturday after the decision of the regular season. There were no big surprises in the selection of team captains. Nokia chose the Oulu team OLS as their opponent. TPS took on Espoo Indians. Happee chose the seinjokelai team SPV as the weaving place. Classic and Oilers remained the last pair.

Nurmon Jymy’s and LASB’s season ended here, while EräViikingit and FBC Turku play in the league qualifiers with the six best teams of men’s Divar.

Match pairs for the semi-finals:

Nokian KrP (1st) – OLS (8th)
TPS (2nd) – Indians (7th)
Happee (3rd) – SPV (6th)
Classic (4th) – Oilers (5th)

In the women’s floorball league, SaiPa of Lappeenranta tied the quarter-final wins against Classic. SaiPa won 5–3 on Saturday and the match series is now 2–2. Three wins guarantee a place in the semi-finals, where TPS, PSS and EräViikingit have already advanced.

We will update the story. The men’s playoff pairs will be selected on Saturday at 9 p.m.
