Admittedly, Nieuwegein doesn’t have the best luck in terms of sound. The municipality is sandwiched between two highways, there is a lot of traffic on its own roads and residents have, to say the least, become accustomed to the sound of piles. “We are a growing city,” explains councilor Marieke Schouten. “With that growth comes more noise. We think we have to do something about that.”
