Ever since Disney bought the 20th Century Fox studio and with it the rights to the X-Men, Marvel fans have been eagerly awaiting when (and above all how) Mutants finally make their way into the MCU would find. Well-known X-Men characters such as Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver were already seen, but were robbed of their mutant origins.

We saw the first appearance of X-Men in an MCU project in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, this took place in an alternate universe. Kamala is now the first confirmed mutant on Earth-616 – even if she is not yet clear about it herself and has little interest in “any other label” indicates.

For the MCU, however, the revelation of the mutant gene is an absolute sensation. Kamala Kahn actress and Marvel megafan Iman Vellani is also very comfortable with it meaning of this surprise aware, as she reveals in an interview with Marvel:

I emailed Kevin Feige in all caps. I said, “Are you really doing this? Are you sure? I’m so honored! I yelled at him through the mail. I totally freaked out. This is the greatest thing in the world, and the fact that it’s happening on our show is crazy. It remains unclear whether there are other mutants on Earth-616 and whether the superhero team of the X-Men will be formed soon. Maybe there will be more answers in the coming year when Kamala Khan from the July 26, 2023 in the big screen adventure The Marvels.

The Ms. Marvel finale is already setting the course for that. In a post-credit scene Kamala is transported to an unknown location by her bracelet. There is now one in its place confused Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) in her nursery.

Mutant Shocker: That’s How Much Ms. Marvel’s Comic Origin Has Been Altered

In the Marvel Comics, the young superhero Kamala is part of the Inhumans. These are the descendants of people many centuries ago genetically modified by the Kree became. No Inhuman: Ms. Marvel is the first MCU mutant

Not only Kamala’s comic powers but also her origins have been altered for her live-action performance. Instead of an Inhuman, she is presented to us as a descendant of the so-called Noor or Djinn. Her great-grandmother was from another dimension, and a mysterious bracelet awakened her superpowers. But that’s not the only reason their Noor ancestryas the season finale revealed.

That Ms. Marvel Create crystals and shape your body in any way you like (and travel through time) is due to a mutation in their DNA. Of course, this mutation could just as easily have been an Inhumans gene, which some allusions previously suggested (the power of the Noor Veil in episode 5 was very reminiscent of a Terrigenesis). Instead, Kamala is now officially a mutant in the MCU.

Unfortunately, we don’t know Marvel’s exact plan yet. However, the fact that the bracelet was stolen from a Kree’s corpse in a flashback sequence suggests that the MCU may have Mixing the Inhumans’ Kree origins and the mutants attempts to present these as two separate groups (as in the comics) – although Inhumans do exist in their own right in other universes (Agents of SHIELD and Doctor Strange 2).
