The ultra-violent superhero series Invincible is back on Amazon Prime and had some shocking surprises in its opening episode of the second half of Season 2. So blessed in episode 5 two important figures the temporal in a brutal way, while the fate of another character was left in the dark.
Now expressed himself Series creator Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead) spoke to Variety about the stark decisions of the superhero hit and explained why they are essential for the further course of the series. Warning, spoilers for Invincible Season 2, Episode 5 follow.

The Guardians of the Globe are forced to split into two different teams in the series’ infamous episode, leaving Rex, Dupli-Kate and Shrinking Rae together on Earth. They clash with the Lizard League – and the confrontation ends fatally for Dupli-Kate and Shrinking Rae.
For Robert Kirkman and his team, this decision was all about putting viewers’ expectations through the meat grinder:
We wanted to make sure these scenes had the power and gravitas we wanted them to have. We introduced the Lizard League as villains who can’t be taken seriously and then the weakest, street-level heroes of the Guardians of the Globe go up against this bunch of jokes. The audience can expect a funny fight scene herebut that doesn’t create anything memorable, especially when the A-Team is fighting a real threat somewhere in space.

Thus, the deaths of Dupli-Kate and Shrinking Rae a reminder for the fans, that in Invincible anything can actually happen and courses of action are not so easy to predict. Kirkman also revealed that he is extremely excited to lead viewers to the grand finale of Season 2, because the 3rd season is already in the starting blocks stand:
We’re ending season two in a pretty interesting way, that’s for sure. And remember, we still have to see what Angststorm has in store and what’s in store for his character. When will the remaining episodes of Invincible Season 2 be released on Amazon Prime Video?
