Katalin Karikó and Drew Weissman are awarded this year’s Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.

They receive the prize for having developed mRNA technology that led to the development of the covid vaccine.

“The discovery by the two Nobel laureates was crucial for developing effective mRNA vaccines against covid-19 during the pandemic that started in early 2020,” writes the Nobel Foundation on its website.
