What if you saved time every day by listening to your e-mails? Yes, you read correctly and you are not dreaming, it is now possible! With the Read Aloud function – Play My Emails, in English – you can now listen to your new messages and the changes made to your day (calendar, tasks…) while you are on the move or doing business. other activites. It was Microsoft who announced it this Wednesday, March 22, 2023 in a blog post (in English, French and Spanish) : “We are happy to announce that Read Emails Aloud is now available in French and Spanish!”
To use this handy feature, you must have an Office 365 business account, Outlook account, or Gmail account connected to Outlook mobile. “Play My Emails” supports English, Portuguese, and now French and Spanish. Read aloud Outlook: messaging goes to voice
“With the development of mobility, telecommuting and nomadic work, a growing number of people juggle between professional and personal tasks throughout the day thanks to their mobile phone. Reading emails aloud (“Play My Emails” ) has so far provided users with additional flexibility to more seamlessly combine their professional and personal lives”explains Microsoft to justify its decision.
So now you can use your voice to perform actions like replying to an email, marking it as important or deleting it, thanks to Cortana, Microsoft’s intelligent voice assistant. You can also request additional information about it or read the next email. Finally, you can schedule a meeting in response to an email or add one to your to-do list. There is no need to install any additional app as Cortana is integrated into Outlook mobile.
To enable the Read Aloud feature in the Outlook mobile app, open the app on your iOS or Android device, select your account picture to open the side menu, press the Play/Read Aloud button, and follow instructions (on-screen or spoken) to complete the setup. Finally, note that the voice functions of Outlook are also available in the computer versions (Windows and macOS), as explained by Microsoft on his site.
