No preliminary investigation into work environment violations in the Löfving case

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

There will be no preliminary investigation into work environment violations in connection with the death of police chief Mats Löfving. This has been decided by Chief Prosecutor Per Nichols at the Special Prosecutor’s Office.

– In order for a preliminary investigation to be initiated, there must be reason to assume that a crime that falls under general prosecution has occurred. It is a statutory requirement for a prosecutor to be able to use the opportunities for investigation through interrogation etc. which are regulated in the procedural code, writes Nichols in a press release.

– In this case, not enough circumstances have emerged to suggest that there is a crime behind what happened, which in itself is of course an extremely tragic event. I have therefore decided that a preliminary investigation should not be initiated, says Per Nichols.
