The phenomenon of flooding (…) does not affect the progress of the process in any way “. In one sentence, Mahamat Idriss Deby dampened the hopes of many political actors. They hoped for a postponement of the legislative and local elections following the floods which have already caused nearly 600 deaths, nearly two million victims and which are paralyzing a good part of the Chad.

Boycott

The Les Transformateurs party of opponent Succès Masra had made this postponement one of its conditions for participating in the elections. While around fifteen other opposition political groups have indicated that they will purely and simply boycott the elections described as “ masquerades “. But the decision also raises eyebrows in the ranks of the former coalition which supported the candidacy of the head of state.

We are not ready at all » laments the president of a party, “ especially given the considerable resources of the MPS! », the party founded by former president Idriss Déby which is already in battle order. So it’s forward or nothing. Submission of applications opens this Saturday until October 28.
