No one has yet been arrested after the armed release in Södertälje, the police press service informs TT late on Thursday evening.

– I have no update on that case, says Per Fahlström, press spokesperson at the police.

The exemption took place in connection with a dentist’s visit in central Södertälje just before 10 o’clock in the morning.

When the Probation Service’s transporters arrived at the dentist’s office, a car pulled up alongside. Several masked people jumped out and took the teenage boy at gunpoint and drove away.

– This is what we consider to be an armed release, because the people who carried it out were armed with firearm-like objects, said Ulf Mossberg, press secretary at the Prison Service, earlier in the day.

The police had an extensive search effort with, among other things, a helicopter, but so far it has not yielded results.

A preliminary investigation into serious illegal threats and serious weapons offenses has been launched.

According to consistent media reports, the freed man is a 17-year-old boy convicted of murder.

In February, another attention-grabbing acquittal occurred in Norrköping, where a convicted criminal was acquitted at a hospital.
