No one has yet been arrested after yesterday’s attack on an event organized by the Left Party and the Green Party.

Several people were taken to hospital after masked people stormed the premises.

– Nothing decisive has happened since last night and no one has been detained, says police spokesperson Daniel Wikdahl.

The attack took place against what the Left Party’s press service describes as a “meeting about emerging fascism” at a theater in Gubbängen in southern Stockholm.

According to meeting participants, several masked people stormed in shortly before the meeting was to begin and threw objects that filled the room with smoke.

The Left Party and the Expo foundation, which participated in the meeting, describe the people as Nazis. On its website, Expo writes that the people both resorted to physical violence against visitors and vandalized the premises before throwing “some type of smoke grenade”.

Pictures from the scene show people with what looks like spray paint on their faces. According to the police, three people had to be taken to hospital by ambulance. The attack is being investigated as causing danger to others and disturbing public order.

The incident has been condemned by the leaders of the eight parliamentary parties, who unanimously describe it as an attack on democracy.
