Holding elections in Burkina Faso is not a “priority” in relation to “security”, the country’s military leader Ibrahim Traore announced in a speech broadcast on state-controlled television on Friday.
Traore, who previously promised to return to democratic elections in 2024, also stated plans to make changes to the constitution.
The military seized power in a coup last September, the second violent seizure of power in Burkina Faso in the space of eight months.
