No need to use expensive and dangerous chemicals to clean your oven glass: there are natural, effective and risk-free solutions to easily restore its shine.
When you cook a dish or roast in the oven, the glass of the appliance often ends up covered in grease stains and sauce splashes. You can remove a good part of it immediately after cooking, but, generally, you think mainly about enjoying the cooked food and you forget about this greasy layer that becomes encrusted and difficult to remove. Of course, you can use specialized chemical products to do a major cleaning afterward, but they are expensive and potentially harmful to health. Fortunately, there are several natural, simple, effective and economical solutions to restore a sparkling oven glass.
For a deep clean, white vinegar and baking soda are your best allies. Start by mixing these two ingredients to make a paste. Apply it to your oven window and leave it on for about thirty minutes. Then, scrub the surface with an abrasive sponge soaked in hot water and rinse with a damp sponge. This method effectively dissolves the most stubborn grease.
Baking soda can also be used in combination with salt to remove grease stains. Mix these two ingredients and add a little water to form a thick paste. Apply this paste to the inside glass of your oven and let it sit for an hour. After this time, scrub with an abrasive sponge and rinse with a damp sponge. The combination of salt and baking soda creates a gentle but effective abrasive action to remove dirt.
Coarse salt is also an interesting option for cleaning the inside glass of the oven. Mix 250 grams of coarse salt with half a liter of water and apply this solution to the glass. Leave it to act for a few minutes before rubbing with a damp sponge and then rinsing. Coarse salt acts as a natural abrasive that helps to remove grease residue.
For a gentler and more fragrant cleaning, lemon is perfect. Rub the dirty window with lemon juice, then place the lemon skins in a bowl of water and put it in the oven. Heat the oven to 80°C for about thirty minutes. This technique not only cleans the window, but also deodorizes the oven. Once the time is up, clean the window with a damp sponge.
Sometimes dirt builds up between the two panes of glass in the oven door. In this case, a cleaning rod can be helpful. Remove the bottom drawer from the oven, run the rod with a cloth on the end into the gap between the panes, and use a back-and-forth motion to remove the dirt. Check the cloth to make sure it has captured the residue.
Finally, if your oven is equipped with a pyrolysis function, it can be used for a deep cleaning. This function heats the oven up to 500°C, burning off all the dirt. Once the process is complete and the oven has cooled down, simply wipe the glass with a dry cloth to remove the ashes. However, be sure to consult the user manual before starting this cleaning mode, which also uses a lot of electricity.
With these natural methods, you can keep your oven clean and shiny without resorting to harsh chemicals. Your kitchen will remain a healthy and pleasant place to prepare your favorite dishes.
