No need to spend a fortune on an air conditioner to cope with the summer heat: Lidl sells a clever little device that effectively cools the air without chemicals and for a very small sum!
When summer is in full swing and temperatures rise, staying cool becomes a priority. Many turn to air conditioning, but it is not always the most economical or ecological solution. Especially since Lidl offers an ingenious solution with a device that is as efficient as it is affordable, sold on the brand’s website and, from time to time, in store.
This is a mobile air cooler from SilverCrest, Lidl’s house brand, which promises to lower the temperature of rooms without requiring complicated installation, and without harming the environment, unlike conventional air conditioners. But its main asset remains its price: only 29.99 euros (plus the shipping costs of 3.99 euros for online purchases)!
Unlike an air conditioner, which uses a refrigerant to carry out heat exchanges, like heat pumps, this type of cooler works on a simple and ecological principle: the evaporation of water (we are talking about an adiabatic system). The ambient warm air is mixed by the fan of the device through a paper pad permanently soaked by the water contained in a tank. And it is the evaporation of this water that cools the expelled air, which makes the cooler much more efficient than a simple fan.
Lidl’s cooler stands out only for its price. It benefits from a sober and elegant design, with a white finish that fits easily into any room. Compact and lightweight (16 cm long, 12 cm wide and 24 cm high for only 780 g), it is easy to transport and place on a desk, a bedside table or even in the kitchen, especially since its power cable measures 1.5 m. And it is very economical in electricity, consuming barely 10 W! We are far from the greed of an air conditioner. And no need for a complex installation, with a pipe that comes out outside through a window…
Above all, it is very easy to use. With its three ventilation speeds, it easily adapts to the needs of freshness and also has an oscillation mode to diffuse fresh air evenly throughout the room. The integrated timer allows you to program the shutdown – practical for using it at night, when falling asleep. It has six touch buttons to control the power, oscillation, mist, timer and even a LED that produces an ambient light, with different colors!
Its great strength lies in its ability to cool and humidify the air using only water, without chemicals. Simply fill its removable 450 ml tank to enjoy up to 6 hours of freshness. You can even add ice cubes for an even more intense cooling effect. And its nebulization function adds humidity to the air, which is very appreciable in dry environments.
Note that Lidl occasionally sells a smaller model, non-rotating and without a timer, but even more economical, and with a larger tank: it only consumes 7 W and costs less than 20 euros. Less powerful, it is not suitable for a room, but is already enough to effectively cool a person, on a desk, a living room table or a bedside table.
Compared to other systems on the market, such as Dyson, Honeywell or Beko models that cost several hundred euros, Lidl’s coolers represent a real bargain. For a small sum, they allow you to enjoy really fresh air during the hot summer months, without breaking the bank on electricity, and without having to do anything complicated. A simple, economical and ecological solution!
