Do you like to eat well and are always looking for new culinary adventures? The Time Out guide has published its top 20 cities with the best food in the world, and some could well become your next destinations. These cities stand out for the quality of their dishes and their affordable prices.

Topping the rankings is Naples, Italy, which is famous for its pizza. With its simple, but high-quality ingredients – tomato, mozzarella, basil – the folded margherita is an essential delicacy. And it is sold for only 1 euro at the Santa Maradona restaurant, in the Spagnoli district. Johannesburg, South Africa is in second place. The Sowetan kota sandwich, topped with cold meats and fries, is very popular. You can enjoy one for around 2.50 euros at restaurants like Mamashka and Friends or Artivist.

Lima, Peru, ranks third. With renowned restaurants like Central, voted the best restaurant in the world in 2023, Lima is a culinary gem. Ceviche, a lemon-marinated fish dish, lomo saltado, a beef stir-fry with vegetables, and arroz con pollo, a rice and chicken dish, are must-try dishes. A hearty arroz con pollo costs around 3 euros, making it a dish appreciated for its excellent value for money.

And although France is renowned for its gastronomy, Lyon only ranks sixteenth. Known as the “belly of France”, the city is a true paradise for gourmets. The famous brioche sausage is a typical and economical delicacy that you can taste for around 4 euros.
