Jeroen van Wijk of LTO, the organization that represents farmers and gardeners, recognizes Aantjes’ story. The entire agricultural sector is suffering from the wet weather. In addition to contract work, arable farming is also in trouble. “There are not many arable farmers in Utrecht, but what is there, most of it still has to be put into the ground. And the corn, which is often used for livestock farming, is not yet in the ground.”
