No more room in homeless shelter Utrecht: ‘Nobody will benefit from this’

No more room in homeless shelter Utrecht Nobody will benefit

The municipality of Utrecht will open a temporary shelter on the Savannahweg on the Lage Weide business park for the cold weather regulation. This scheme will come into effect on November 1, meaning homeless people will not spend the night outside in the cold.

The regulation comes into effect when the perceived temperature drops below 0 degrees. When this happens, migrant workers and people without residence status may also use the shelter. Normally they cannot rely on shelter and sleep on the street.

According to the municipality, the location is not suitable for permanent residence, which is why no people are being accommodated at the moment.
