No more need to snoop around in your conversations to call your favorite contacts in WhatsApp: the app will set up a favorites system that will allow you to call them with just the touch of a finger!
If WhatsApp is one of the most popular instant messengers, with more than two billion users, it must be recognized that its use can sometimes be confusing. Between conversations with loved ones and group discussions, it is not uncommon to find yourself having to manage around twenty exchanges at once, so much so that we end up getting lost in the thread of conversations. However, there are people with whom we talk more than others – sometimes daily – so much so that it would be practical to always have them on hand.
However, at present, it is not possible to quickly access a particular contact. You can only pin a conversation, then tap the profile photo of the contact in question to display the option to call them. A process that turns out to be tedious and time-consuming. Also, Meta is working to remedy this problem. The specialized site WABetaInfo discovered, in the last update of the latest beta of WhatsApp for Android (version 2.24.5.5), a function under development allowing you to designate favorite contacts – it had also been spotted, a few days before, in a beta of WhatsApp for iOS.
WhatsApp favorite contact: a simplified calling process
Concretely, we can designate as favorites the contacts that we want to be able to call quickly, which will then appear in a dedicated section. All you have to do is tap their profile photo to call them directly. No more handling needed! These favorites will be displayed prominently at the top of the calls tab, with a speaker icon in place of their profile picture. Obviously, we can manually choose our favorite contacts by selecting them from the directory.
This shortcut will allow us to save valuable time, especially in urgent situations or when we need to frequently contact specific contacts. The manipulation is much faster than having to search for the contact’s name in the search bar or having to scroll through conversations until their name appears. Note that the favorite contacts should be displayed in a new bar which will be introduced in the “Calls” tab, so that they are perfectly distinguishable from the rest of the contacts. The function is still under development, it should be available in a stable version in the next updates.
