At De Schakel primary school in the Overvecht district of Utrecht, the children still receive fruit every day “from a local farmer” and a lunch with sandwiches, cheese, sausage, apple syrup and jam. And snack vegetables, such as tomatoes and cucumber. A large part of this is paid for with money from school meals and if that no longer continues, director Janet Klein does not know whether she can still offer children the same.
