No Man’s Sky Finally Reaches Its Very Positive Threshold

Eight years after its controversial launch in 2016, Hello Games’ space adventure game No Man’s Sky has reached a major milestone on Steam.

When No Man’s Sky launched in August 2016, player response was so negative that it quickly gained an “Extremely Negative” rating on Steam. It took two years and many major updates for the game to reach its average rating of “Mixed”. In 2021, the game reached the “Mostly Positive” level in the all-time user review average.

It’s a Great Success for No Man’s Sky to Reach a “Very Positive” Score

Now, three years and a total of 35 free content updates later, No Man’s Sky has done the impossible and changed its initial “Extremely Negative” rating to “Very Positive”. This means that 80% of the 245,857 Steam reviews are positive. “Guys, this happened. ALL REVIEWS: Very Positive. Thank you, thank you, thank you. You have no idea how much this means to us,” studio boss Sean Murray wrote in a post on social media platform X.

No Man’s Sky’s next goal will be to rise to the prestigious “Extremely Positive” category, which includes games such as Sekiro, Persona 5, Baldur’s Gate 3, Stardew Valley, Hades. However, this is a much more difficult goal as it requires 95% of lifetime reviews to be positive.

Still, moving to “Very Positive” is an incredible achievement and a testament to the work Hello Games has put into space simulation over the past eight years. The latest update came out this month and brought cross-save support, PlayStation 5 Pro improvements, and the return of Mass Effect’s Normandy. This is the sixth major update of the year.

Despite a rocky start, No Man’s Sky regained its reputation with perseverance and won the admiration of gamers. With future updates and improvements, it’s sure that this space adventure’s journey is far from over.
