An electrical substation fire at Imperial Oil Friday resulted in no injuries, a plant spokesperson says.
The fire began around 7 pm on the west side of Vidal Street and was extinguished within minutes, Kristina Zimmer said.
“They’re still assessing what the damage is today and the actual cause,” she said.
Elevated flaring at Imperial Oil continued for probably a couple of hours, she said.
Zimmer encouraged people to sign up for company notifications via MyCNN . Two notifications about the fire were sent Friday, at 7:29 pm and 7:41 pm
“If people are interested in this type of information that live around our site, or really anywhere in the region, I’d encourage them to sign up,” she said, noting updates are also provided via the company’s Facebook page.
