No gift, here is why 4 out of 10 motorists are not reimbursed by Stellantis

No gift here is why 4 out of 10 motorists

The first complaint files filed by the owners of PureTech motor vehicles obtained an answer. The Stellantis group refuses around 40%.

Incessant breakdowns, expensive repairs, cars that have become almost unsaleable … Some vehicle owners equipped with the Stellantis Puretech engine live a real ordeal. A disarray as a collective has been formed in order to request compensation from the Franco-ITALO-American group which notably owns the Peugeot, Citroën, DS and Opel brands whose cars are equipped with the famous Puretech Trois-Cylinders with petrol. Faced with popular pressure, and weakened by a bad pub that it would have been well, the Stellantis group put online in early 2025 a platform in order to allow its European customers to obtain repair.

Four months after its opening, more than 10,000 files were completed in France and Spain, according to figures revealed by Argus. Still according to the specialized site, just over half of the complaints filed in France – or 4,337 files out of 8,226 – were processed. Among these, 60% obtained a favorable response. Stellantis will therefore make the first compensation, most often to reimburse its customers the costs they had to pay to repair breakdowns due to engine oil consumption and/or premature wear of the distribution belt.

But all the owners of cars equipped with the Puretech 1.0 and 1.2 engine – which was still elected engine from the year from 2015 to 2018! – will not receive good news. Indeed, on average 4 files out of 10 have been rejected since the start of the reimbursement procedure. Despite the scandal caused by its thousands of defective engines, the Stellantis group is not determined to give gifts to its customers. Those who do not precisely respect the conditions to be eligible for the management of repair costs will not receive a penny.

This applies in particular for motorists who have not carried out all the repairs in the Stellantis network as well as for those who have not respected the maintenance plan required by the manufacturer. Other files also suffered a refusal because the breakdowns on vehicles did not intervene over the period covered by the reimbursement campaign, which would originally run between 1er January 2022 and March 18, 2024 before Stellantis extended it until December 31, 2024.

The group owner of the French brands Peugeot and Citroën has also decided to now accept the buffered maintenance book as proof of the good maintenance of the vehicle. A small generosity that may be appreciated by certain customers who have hitherto had an obligation to provide the last three invoices to be in the nails. From there to give them a smile …
