After yesterday’s downpour, witnesses saw how the E45 rose and the travelers were stuck for several hours.
On Monday, it is still unclear when the road can reopen.
– Unfortunately, we cannot give a forecast at the moment, but hopefully we will know a little more this afternoon, says Karin Hedemalm.
It was during the Sunday evening that the rain poured down and many motorists were stuck after the landslide on the E45 outside Lilla Edet.
– The road bubbled up and lifted itself, said the witness Peter yesterday.
The masses of water remained on the road during Monday morning and the Swedish Transport Administration is now waiting for it to drain away before they can inspect the road.
– Only then can we see what the road looks like and how extensive the damage is, says Karin Hedemalm, acting press manager.
“A little optimistic”
Initially, it was thought that the road would open as early as Tuesday, but it is now unclear when it can reopen.
– We were a bit optimistic, it has probably taken more damage than we thought. Unfortunately, we cannot give a forecast at the moment, but hopefully we will know a little more this afternoon after we have been on site, says Karin Hedemalm.
Travelers are now being asked to use alternative routes.
– We would like you to use E6 if you have the opportunity. But it is important to go out in time and look at how the situation looks on the roads, for example on our website, says Hedemalm.
It is currently also unclear how many cars are stuck in the water.
