When Susan’s partner died of cancer, she was left with a house and electricity bills for which she became responsible. But since she was not the owner of the house, she could not take over the e-subscription. Therefore, she cannot apply for electricity support, as estates are not covered by the support.
But Svenska Kraftnät and Försäkringskassan that TV4 Nyheterna has spoken to think that estates should be covered by the electricity subsidy. The issue is currently being handled by the government, which has turned to the European Commission for approval.
Energy and Food Minister Ebba Busch writes to TV4 Nyheterna that you should not have to think about technicalities around electricity support when you are in the middle of grief after losing your spouse.
“If you as a couple were entitled to the electricity subsidy, you should have it now as well. Electricity subsidy will be paid out to estates, but unfortunately it will come later in connection with the business subsidy that covers legal entities,” writes Busch.
