No Dance for health in Nora this fall

Dance for health is scientifically evaluated and has shown that the participants increased their self-rated health and had reduced symptoms such as headaches, stomachaches, anxiety and depression.

– We have asked for money but have been refused, not only for this but also for other things, says school principal Christian Kokvik.

– It is clear that it is boring. It is a good and important investment for young people who had this need and desire, he continues.

“A protected zone”

– It is very important for young people with mental illness to have a place outside the school and outside the home, a kind of protected zone, says Elin Duberg, dance instructor at the Dance for Health project.

– If you don’t have it, there is a risk of falling back into unhealthy habits or an unsafe community, she continues.

The municipality needs to save

– We have to decide what kind of money the municipality has in its wallet and that’s where we say no, says Dan Pierre (M), who is the chairman of the municipal board in Nora.

– It is of course painful to make these balances, he says.

The girls who are currently enrolled in Dance for Health automatically get a place in dance groups at the cultural school in Nora.

– However, it is not said that it is the same methodology behind, but they can continue to dance, explains Dan Pierre (M).
