No animal So wild Is a natural force

Berlin does not turn into a slaughterhouse in the Gangster thriller. So wild. The focus is not on a stereotyper sponsor with its Mucki jackets on the side, but a clever, diabolical lawyer. She doesn’t shy away from anything to take the top of her clan. Is a role model With King Richard III. One of the most famous bad guys in literary historybut director Burhan Qurbani shot anything but an ordinary Shakespeare adaptation.

From Richard III. the diabolical rashida does not become an animal. So wild.

Five years ago, Qurbani presented his adaptation of Döblins Berlin Alexanderplatz – a huge gangster film, which partly plunged into the city, as if a ride through hell. In no animal. So wildly, which runs at the Berlinale outside of the competition, things are even darker. This Berlin has fallen into the underworld, more precisely the York and Lancaster families.

In court they face each other early in the film, the men on the dock, but a woman has the floor. It is a defender Rashida York (Kenda Hmeidan), who does the dirty work for her Syrian -born family, but is neither recognized nor reasonable. At least that’s how she sees it. In the course of the film She whispers her dark plans in the ear. The Yorks and Lancasters are decimated bit by bit.

No animal. So wild. – Trailer (German) HD

In William Shakespeares in 1597 printed play was called Rashida Richard III. It was based on a real historical figure, which was deformed by Shakespeare to ruthless villain: a humpback that goes through children’s corpses. And what kind of villain he is! The deranged entertainer appeals to his audience like accomplices, while he endorsed his enemies and then wraps their widows around his finger.

Unsurprisingly, film and television have been using this piece for decades. In 1995 the later Gandalf Ian McKellen played his Richard III. as a quasi-fascist dictator. And the British and American film adaptation of House of Cards also examine their respective government structures with the help of a main character inspired by Richard. No animal. So wild. belongs to the free adaptations.

At the center of the film rages a nature violence

Rashida does not wear hump, she doesn’t have to. As a woman, she is a second -class family member. Because of her gender, she is denied the way to the crown. Her brother Imad (Mehdi Nebbou), the king, so to speak, even has her marriage in mind. This gender switch works excellently. The decision arises coherently from the gangster world and is not only limited to Richards or Rashida’s figure.

The majority of the male staff will soon be banished in the second row or crushed. At her instead of Elisabet (Verena Altenberger), the king’s wife, peels out as a true opponent of Rashida. On the one hand, the outsider that is married and converted to Islam stands, which accumulates money as part of her apparently passive role. On the other Rashida, which the gender roles are first looking for with their job and then with their bloody path to jump up for power.

Also interesting:

Fortunately, with all understanding of Rashida’s situation in the script by Enis Maci and Burhan Qurbani, it is not clear of what Richard III. converted into such an entertaining fabric. That is The pleasure of evil, reprehensible, to the exceeding of moral borders.

The great Kenda Hmeidan expresses this pleasure when she throws the spoiling of her figure in every letter and every break. No animal. So wild. Starts as a stylish gangster film full of dark back room and dramatic appearances. The more rashida tears, the more desolater, barren and also mythical device. Zack Snyder would come with tears in view of the fabulous vision worlds (if he had taste).

In no animal. So wild. An old world is torn down by force until you have to search for the debris in the dust. Only the new world, Rashida has no plan. It is a nature violence and this film belongs all of Kenda Hmeidan.

No animal. So wild. was shown at the Berlinale in the Berlinale Special section. The film will come to German cinemas on May 8, 2025.
