No agreement yet – the big train strike can begin today

The battle against the clock continues.
Today – at 15.00 – the first stage of Seko’s strike could start if an agreement on improved working conditions is not reached.
The strike will have a major impact on the Öresund trains.

On 2 May, Seko, the Service and Communications Union, announced a strike for approximately 1,200 members. Today, the first step in the strike can be taken.

The conflict is about what, according to Seko, is a lack of foresight in scheduling. The employer side, the Almega train companies have previously said that they will not be able to agree to the demand for schedules that are locked 14 days in advance. Nor the shortening of working hours that Seko demanded.

Negotiated via mediator

The negotiations have not taken place between the parties but via mediators – and as of Thursday morning no agreement has yet been reached.

If Almega and Seko do not reach an agreement, the first of three planned steps in the strike could break out today, something that will affect the Öresund trains. The 200 employees in the first stage are Next, a strike will begin in the Stockholm subway, Green Cargo and SJ on May 15 and 18 and will also affect Mälardalstrafik, Götalandståg, Pågatåg and freight trains.

The deadline for today’s negotiations is 3 p.m.
