The Finnish Championship ski weekend started in Rovaniemi on Friday with the women’s 5 km and men’s 10 km competitions. The competitions were cross-country skiing with temporary starts.
In the women’s race Kerttu Niskanen defeated Krista Pärmäkoski in five seconds. Thirdly, he was better known as a biathlete Mari Eder. He told me about the end of his international career Riitta-Liisa Roponen was the eighth.
– It is a rare treat to take the vitos free Finnish championship. Happy suprise. The skis felt good and the weather was slippery, Niskanen added.
Niskanen, 33, is known as a better expert in traditional skiing than a free expert. At the Beijing Olympics, he skied the first medal of his career in his traditional career, 10 kilometers of silver. On the final 30 kilometers of the Olympics, he still skied in the bronze free cross-country start.
Last Sunday, the women skied the 15-kilometer free race of the Finnish Cup in Ruka, Kuusamo, where Pärmäkoski was ahead by 54.4 seconds. Niskanen described “Kristan’s past expenses” at the time, but the parts on the Ounasvaara tracks changed.
Pärmäkoski described that the preparation was not optimal. He visited his home between Ruka and Ounasvaara for a seven-hour drive and did not arrive in the race city until Thursday.
– An hour and a half before the start I went skiing and touring that track. Maybe I got a little tired of the race. There was a tough competition. The ski was good. “Kepa” was tough today, Pärmäkoski said.
Pärmäkoski will contract a 3×5 kilometer post on Saturday and a traditional 30 kilometer on Sunday. Niskanen is not included in the message. He took part in Friday’s temporary start race before Pärmäkoski, who was unable to catch the times he hit Niskanen.
– Krista started after me, is often able to turn a hard fight in her favor and hears the intervals better. Nice to go this way now. That Ruka race was not the best day. At this point, there are starting to be day-to-day differences in who gets what they get out of it. Even with fatigue, Ruka went low, Niskanen said.
Mari Eder, a biathlete representing Eno’s Kisa-Boys, was 16.2 seconds behind the winner. Eder thought he wouldn’t be able to tell with certainty about the rest of his career during the weekend. However, he praised his background troops, some of whom have been involved for 15 years.
– He has been allowed to show the deepest sluts of his soul, but has not had to sell himself with abdominal pictures. Has got to focus on top sports, Eder said.
For Eder, the Finnish Championships lasted for Friday and ended the competition season.
– Tomorrow (Saturday) is the fiftieth anniversary of a friend in Vuokatti, and we will be skiing 50 kilometers there, Eder said.
After the weekend, Eder heads to Austria for his homeland.
– Last time I was home was in January.
Pasanen hinted at his future – Iivo Niskanen in his own class with ten
Head coach of the Finnish cross-country team Teemu Pasanen comments on his future during ’s broadcast on the men’s race. Pasanen’s contract expires this period.
Pasanen gave a much talkative answer when Riku Salminen asked him about the sequel.
– Yes, negotiations have probably taken place here. Things will continue, at least in some way. I think the work will continue, Pasanen said with a smile on his face.
Puijo Ski Club kept the fastest pace in the men’s 10 km race Iivo Niskanenwho defeated the Pond SkiTeam Joni Mäki in half a minute.
– A little maybe on the second puck came more difference and a long rise on top. The time was the same from the top of the hill, I turned the curves so carefully that I didn’t miss the championship, Niskanen described his skiing compared to his competitors.
At this point, Niskanen described the brief colorfully.
Silverman Mäki estimated for that the progress was better than last weekend in the Finnish Cup in Ruka.
– I thought I was going to enjoy the track, but it was no pleasure, Mäki said and hoped for the best passage of the weekend.
In free skiing, the third was Imatra Athletes Remi Lindholm, for whom the medal was the first in his Finnish career. Lindholm lost to Niskanen in 39.8 seconds.
– I reached the goal and maybe a little over, I can’t help but laugh, said Lindholm, who wanted to improve his career’s best Finnish Championship ranking, ie 15th place.
