On Monday, Nina Muhonen traveled from Västerås to Stockholm to hand over the petition “Assistance Uprising” to Social Services Minister Camilla Waltersson Grönvall (M).
Over 900 people have signed in just a couple of weeks.
What Nina Muhonen criticizes is that the compensation levels are too low and assistance companies can “cancel” assistance to people with great needs. She wants the compensation to be increased by at least SEK 40 per hour.
– You’ve had to stop training staff, get involved in things. In the end, you have nothing to draw on anymore. This is when we with the greatest needs are no longer allowed to remain in the companies, because we are going into the red.
Can no longer work
Despite the paralysis after the accident, she herself has been able to work, get an education and live a fulfilling life, she says before handing over the petition. That is no longer the case.
– I want to be able to work, I want to be able to make a difference, but I can’t bear it, because right now I’m fighting for my assistance to work, says Nina Muhonen.
She thinks that you should see the overall perspective with the assistance.
– You have to remember that all costs in society are rising. And you should also think about what the assistance allowance provides. There are many who have never had a job who enter the labor market, I will be able to work and my family would feel better.
Waltersson Grönvall: “Great concern”
Social Services Minister Camilla Waltersson Grönvall received the nominations on Monday.
– It is clear that there has been a great deal of concern in this group and I can only regret that above all the last two terms of office have been filled with concern for this group. I see it as important to protect the reform that LSS and the assistance actually are, says Waltersson Grönvall.
She points out that a proposal is currently being prepared that the state should have sole responsibility for the assistance, instead of having it divided between the municipality and the state.
But she cannot answer about increased compensation.
– I cannot preface the budget, because it will only be presented in a couple of days.
The autumn budget will be presented on Wednesday 20 September.
