The little sister: “She deserved to feel safe” • Criticizes that the man was out
Nimo Daud, 28, was stabbed to death on his way home from work in Märsta.
Today she was buried, surrounded by family, friends and colleagues.
– Nimo’s fate must not just be a sad story. It must be a wake-up call for the whole society. She deserved to feel safe when she went home from work, says little sister Hibo Daud to TV4 Nyheterna.
Hundreds of people gathered at Strandkyrkogården in Tyresö to say goodbye to Nimo Daud.
In mid-December, Nimo Daud was suddenly attacked with a knife in a wooded area in Märsta – on his way home from his job as a nurse. The suspected perpetrator, who is arrested for the murder, is seriously mentally ill, according to information given to TV4 Nyheterna.
Hibo Daud talks about the grief after his older sister.
– She was the nicest person on this planet. I don’t think there will be anyone as good as her. She took care of others before herself.
“She deserved to feel safe”
The little sister believes that society lets women down through a lack of protection. She highlights that Nimo worked in healthcare and helped many.
– Every day she contributed to taking care of people who needed help. She was a woman who already gave to society but she was not protected when she needed it most.
Criticizes that the man was out on the streets
The arrested person is a man in his 40s who has received compulsory psychiatric care on several previous occasions, according to information given to TV4 Nyheterna.
Siham, cousin of Nimo Daud, believes that the man should not have been out on the streets.
– It is very strange that he was out without medication at all. From what we’ve read, he shouldn’t be on our streets. Unfortunately, we can’t say more because right now we’re only going by what we’ve read in the newspaper.
– It is very, very tragic what has happened to our sister, our cousin, our friend, our beloved Nimo.
Then charges can be brought
The arrested man has confessed to the crime. There is also video surveillance showing him getting off the bus at the same time as Nimo Daud.
Charges have not yet been brought, but it may happen at the end of January, says prosecutor Peter Claesson. A forensic psychiatric examination of the man must be carried out.
– It is terrible and appalling. My thoughts go out to the woman who died and to her relatives of course.
