It was erosion in the coastal landscape that was behind the accident. HD was the first to report the race.
– It was a boulder that fell from the slope and crushed a leg of a tower. It happened just over a month ago, says Nils Hyllienmark, chairman of Nimi’s friends.
The tower was provisionally erected by the association because the broken leg could not be repaired.
– On the night of Sunday, the tower fell, says Nils Hyllienmark.
– The plan was to set up on Saturday, but it rained all day and then it is not possible to work there effectively.
“The course of nature”
It was a person passing by by boat who discovered the slide. The voluntary association Nimi’s friends, which is responsible for the work, will go out and inspect the damage during Monday afternoon.
– Nature takes its course, that’s the way it is. We have to look at how it looks and what we can and must do about it. It’s sad that it happens, but it’s the course of nature.
Vilks saw only possibilities
Nils Hyllienmark believes that it is precisely erosion and not that the wood would be bad. The association has no opportunities to influence the natural landscape.
– We only take care of the artwork, nature is nature and a nature conservation area at that. We neither can nor should do anything about it.
He believes that Nimis has an important role to play going forward as well and that the race does not stop the artwork.
– Lars Vilk’s motto in life was that everything is an opportunity. So also this. What he had then done with it I cannot judge.
