On March 30, 2020, the painting ‘Spring garden, the rectory garden in Nuenen in the spring’ by Van Gogh was seized in the Singer Laren museum. Five months later, on August 26, the canvas ‘Two laughing boys’ by Hals disappeared at the Hofje Museum of Mrs van Aerden in Leerdam. The paintings belonged to the core collection of both museums. The Van Gogh is owned by the Groninger Museum.
