Now the TV profile comes with an unexpected proposal to change the SHL.
– It’s so bad that the ice hockey association didn’t get hold of this a long time ago, he says on Instagram.

During many have Niklas Wikegård aired his opinions on hockey live on TV4. Week in and week out, he has always said what he thinks and stands for when it comes to the sport on ice that he loves.

Taking over Djurgården

Wikegård’s proposal

Now he comes up with a radical proposal to change the SHL forever, see the video below.
– I have said it 1000 times, it is too difficult to leave the top league. The whole thing about a team from HockeyAllsvenskan that goes up is far too small, a team from HockeyEttan is sickeningly small. I don’t understand how you manage to motivate yourself there in the talented division one clubs. It’s too bad the hockey association didn’t take command of this a long time ago. What a bottleneck it is in Swedish hockey, oh oh oh oh oh, says Wikegård in a video on Instagram.

Niklas Wikegård is now launching his own proposal for promotion and relegation in hockey’s highest leagues.
– Teams that managed their business poorly in the top league, such as Leksand and Oskarshamn, one of them would have gone out if there hadn’t been a pandemic. Brynäs and Djurgården have left because they managed their business badly, there is not much to talk about. Teams like Malmö and Linköping should have been relegated a long time ago and had the opportunity to go up again. I vote for, in the future, no old classic qualifying series, that is also a sporting injustice, but a straighter promotion and relegation. One team that gets qualified and three teams that go up and three that go out. I want a bigger SHL, a bigger Allsvenska and a smaller division one, he explains in the video, which you can see below.

The hockey profile also gets plenty of support from its followers on social media.
“Very good suggestion, Niklas,” writes one user on Instagram.
“Just right! More teams in the SHL, yes please,” writes another.
“Sane thoughts regarding promotion and relegation. The last team straight out of the SHL. First team in HA straight up. Then there is something to go for, then the possibility of another team,” writes a third.
