Växjö, Färjestad and Skellefteå are the oddsmakers’ favorites for the SM gold.
But Niklas Wikegård believes in a completely different team.

Last season, Växjö took home the SHL title and won its fourth SM gold. Ahead of this season, clubs such as Frölunda, Färjestad and the reigning champions have been tipped among hockey experts and betting companies as the ones who will lift the Le Mat trophy next spring.
“A billion questions”
The hockey profile and expert commentator Niklas Wikegård is one of those who have been asked which team will win the series.
– This time of year, we experts have to answer a billion questions. Which team wins, which team goes out, which team flops, which coach gets fired first, which player ends up in the freezer. And every year it’s like this: “it’s clear that player wins the points league, and it’s probably Frölunda who wins SM gold, and he’ll be good” and blah blah blah, he says in a clip on his Instagram.

Wikegård takes a completely different route and comes up with a great tip for the SM gold. Because unlike all other experts, he has chosen to go a completely different path.

Wikegård’s roar
When others are talking about Växjö, Färjestad, Skellefteå AIK, Rögle or Frölunda, the TV profile surprises everyone with the bang Timrå.
– I think it’s a bit more fun to watch Timrå, I love the feeling they have up in Timrå. I think that in their offensive it is clear, there are two formations that will make it forward and then there are two formations that will close down and be difficult, he says.

The 59-year-old also pays tribute to the club’s coach Anders Karlsson.
– I like “Ante” Karlsson, who I have underestimated as a leader. I like the leadership on the ice there, both with Didrik Strömberg and (Per) Svensson on the hill, but above all Anton Lander is roaring strong. I think Timrå can be really difficult, with two good goalkeepers. They finished fifth last year, but don’t underestimate them, I say they will win SM gold, says Wikegård.
