Nike invents a new pair of trainers ready to recycle

Nike continues to chain eco-responsible innovations. Recently, the American equipment manufacturer unveiled the Link and Link Axis models, removable and then recyclable sneakers which should be released in June 2022 and early 2023.

Nike intends to revolutionize the world of sneakers. His experimental team ISPA, whose initials stand for “improvise, recover, protect and adapt” (“improvise, scavenger, protect and adapt” in original version) worked on a more circular design principle. How ? By creating a shoe completely removable, then recyclable.

The American equipment manufacturer has designed a sneaker model that does not use glue so that once the shoes are worn out, they can be easily disassembled before being thrown away. Each detached part can thus be broken down into recyclable wasteall without restricting durability tennis or alter its performance. An innovation that allows drastically reduce the carbon footprint of the brand since thanks to it, the shredding of the shoes is avoided. However, this step, usually necessary to disassemble sneakers, consumes a large amount of energy. The two models designed by Nike, the Link and the LinkAxis, The first breaks down into three interlocking pieces, while the second is additionally equipped with a 100% recycled polyester Flyknit upper and fully recycled TPU tooling as well. Parts at futuristic looka style that is all the rage with sneakersheads ! For the moment, the price of these two pieces, which should be released in June for the Link and in early 2023 for the Link Axis, has not been communicated.

Nike, in full evolution

In 2020, the American giant had already committed to the environmental cause with the launch of its program Move To Zero., an initiative that aims to reduce brand wastehis carbon footprint and adopt a more sustainable design process. Since then, Nike has continued to move forward and progress in its eco-responsible approach.

So much so that last September, the sportswear specialist marketed its most durable pair of technical trainers to date, half of which are made from recycled materials.
