It is set for drama when the women’s long-distance cup ends on Sunday with almost seven miles of skiing in Northern Norway.
Ida Dahl keeps the yellow leader’s jersey for the last race, but there are big question marks about her form. In Saturday’s race, the four-mile long and admittedly tough Reistadløpet, Dahl had no chance at all.
In the end, she finished in twelfth place, beaten by almost eight minutes by Norwegian winner Astrid Øyre Slind.
— As soon as I started to take in, there was absolutely nothing. It was pitch black. It was just trying to get to the finish line, says Dahl to SVT.
Magni Smedås, Norway, had better speed under the skis and finished fourth. Now Smedås is only one point behind Dahl in the overall cup.
“It’s hard to get it more exciting than this,” says the blue-and-yellow long-distance skier.
— I think you can just rest and eat a lot and hope for the best.
Martin Løwstrøm Nyenget, Norway, won the men’s class in Reistadløpet. Max Novak was the best Swede, first in eleventh place.
