In Nigeria, President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms are struggling to bear fruit, five months after his inauguration. The devaluation of the naira in June did not bring order to a complex exchange system made up of multiple regimes. Worse still: the national currency continued to plummet on the parallel foreign exchange market, until it passed the threshold of a thousand naira to the dollar.
