Niger junta wants to talk with Ecowas

The coup plotters in Niger have asked the West African cooperation organization Ecowas to allow their mediators to return to the country for talks.

The delegation is expected to arrive in Niamey on Monday evening or Tuesday, according to Niger Prime Minister Ouhoumoudou Mahamadou.

When the Ecowas delegation traveled to Niamey on Thursday, they were not allowed to meet the junta leader or the imprisoned president Mohamed Bazoum.

Ecowas has opened for military intervention in Niger after the coup d’état.
