Woonbond welcomes MOT
The Woonbond has been advocating for an MOT for rental properties for years. “We think checks to ensure safe cars are very normal. Why not for healthy and safe homes?” the tenants’ association said on its website.
The former housing minister said earlier, when a proposal on the MOT for rental properties was discussed, that she is not in favor of it. It seemed to her ‘a huge operation’. According to her, it would lead to ‘a lot of inspections of homes where there are no problems at all’.
When asked, a spokesperson for the Woonbond said: “We are happy with the news that Nieuwegein has decided on this. Ideally, it will be introduced nationally and it does not depend on the municipality where you live whether your house is regularly inspected.”
