Nicolas Cage’s botched appearance in the biggest superhero disaster of 2023 simply amazed him

The Flash is considered one of the biggest superhero flops of last year (via The Numbers). At least there were plenty of cameos for DC fans to marvel at. According to an interview with Yahoo Entertainment, Cage was informed before filming that he would portray Superman in a short scene in which he witnesses the destruction of the universe. According to his own statements, he had no idea that he will be digitally rejuvenated and fight a giant spider. In an interview with Deadline, he said:

I wasn’t mad, just amazed. I thought, ‘I didn’t even shoot that. […] Did you just tell me that I was watching the destruction of the universe? so you can take pictures of me and then animate me? We didn’t talk about that.’

He was still happy to watch his performance, even if the CGI isn’t “Really” works, says Cage. The star’s cameo in The Flash is a tongue-in-cheek reference to a planned Superman film in the ’90s starring Cage (via Cinema Blend ).
