Anyone who has never been afraid of a color will start to do so in this film. The creeping corruption of the Gardner farm and its inhabitants is a surreal horror trip at its finest. It ranges from psychedelic nightmare sequences and an ever-increasing madness of the characters, even leading to physical consequences.
The neon-soaked images creep into our brains bit by bit, just like the eponymous color from outer space. brilliant effects and mask work do their part to entertain us to the fullest – and to disturb us to the core. Because what is happening here cannot be stopped and is getting more and more nasty with every passing minute.

Of course, Nicolas Cage also does his best to fit in wonderfully with the Lovecraft madness and to turn things up nicely towards the finale. Whoever Cage fighting mutant alpacas will get their money’s worth here. Fans of unique horror or the original as well.
