According to Amazon, Cage, 1930’s In New York “an aging and hapless private detective (Cage) who is forced to confront his past life as the city’s only superhero” Cage will portray Spider-Man Noir in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Cage is best known for voicing Peter Parker/Spider-Man Noir in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Noir will be the first time the character has been portrayed in a live-action adaptation.
“If I do this show, it’s something different,” Cage said. “I want to do something more like a Pop Art hybrid, like a Lichtenstein painting, something with a little sparkle to it. It’s fun to look at. It’s not going to be Pig; it’s not going to be Dream Scenario. But how many of those can you find? I’m lucky to have found one in my late 50s.”
Cage is currently receiving rave reviews for his performance as a serial killer in Longlegs. Cage knows filmmakers will want to portray more of these sinister characters in the future. But Cage is drawn to Noir because it’s the exact opposite of Longlegs’ depiction of violence.
“I don’t like violence. I don’t want to play people who hurt people,” Cage said. “One of the things I like about this potential show is that it’s fantasy. It’s not really people beating people up. There are monsters,” he added.
Cage later revealed that Noir will consist of eight 45-minute episodes. Noir was officially announced at Amazon’s first upfront presentation in May 2024. Showrunners Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot are developing the series alongside executive producers Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal. Emmy-winning director Harry Bradbeer will direct the first two episodes and executive produce.
