2007 left Nicklas Bäckström the security at home in Gävle and Brynäs to move to the other side of the Atlantic and join the world’s best hockey league, the NHL. You can still say that things have gone very well for “Bäckis” in North America.

It has been 17 seasons in North America and an impressive 1,032 points in 1,097 games in the NHL. He has been faithful to the Washington Capitals throughout his career in the United States and the big highlight was of course the Stanley Cup title in 2018.

– So, I can’t stand here and promise things that will happen in the future. But what I can say is that I have a dream to play in Brynäs, he says to the newspaper Gefle Dagblad.

“Have a dream”
Bäckström’s parent club is Valbo AIF but moved early to Brynäs academy. However, he does not know when he can make his dream come true, which makes all Swedish hockey lovers rejoice.
– Now I’m fresh in my body. But at the same time, you’re not 19 anymore. I have to take a year at a time now at this age. If it happens, it happens. But I have a dream about it, he tells the local newspaper.
Nicklas Bäckström’s last NHL season was ruined by hip surgery and it was a total of 21 points in 39 games for the Capitals, who missed the playoffs for the first time in eight years.
– You have to take one thing at a time. One year at a time, he says about the future in the interview.
