Nice reviews for Nyberg after the premiere success: “He has everything”

6/10 in L’Equipe, 6.5/10 in Gazzettan and three stars out of three possible in Marca.
Glenn Nyberg received excellent marks after his performance in the match between Romania and Ukraine.
– He is a complete referee, says Martin Ingvarsson, elite referee coach at SvFF, to the Football Channel.

Glenn Nyberg refereed, together with Mahbod Beigi and Andreas Söderkvist, the EC match between Romania and Ukraine on Monday.

European media gave the Swedish referee good marks after the effort. French L’Equipe gave him 6/10 and Spanish Marca gave him three stars out of a possible three. Italy’s Gazzetta dello Sport, who are known to be reserved with ratings, meanwhile gave 6.5/10 with the following review:

“Had the match in his hand from start to finish, with personality and assurance, without being put to a harder test,” wrote the paper.

“Great performance”

Martin Ingvarsson, who is the elite referee coach at SvFF, cannot but agree. He saw the match on site – and praises the effort of Glenn Nyberg and the refereeing team.

– It was a great performance, he says The soccer channeland continues:

– He has qualified for the EC through good performances. Then, a premiership is always a premiership, but he did well.

Judged in the Champions League

During the spring, Glenn Nyberg had to referee a number of big matches in the Champions League. And in April it became clear that he, together with the aforementioned Mahbod Beigi and Andreas Söderkvist, had to go down to Germany and judge in the football European Championship.

– He has many strengths. First, he has a good understanding of the game. At the same time, he is serious and always prepares in the best possible way, says Martin Ingvarsson.

“As close to a natural born judge as you can be”

Referee manager Stefan Johannesson is also not slow to praise Nyberg and the referee team.

– He was fantastic. He does everything right and makes everything look so easy, says Johannesson and continues:

– He is as close to a natural-born judge as you can be. Everything a judge should have, he has. Communication, good movement and excellent decision making. If he just keeps working, the future looks extremely bright.

The 35-year-old has previously been named “Referee of the Year” in the Allsvenskan and in 2016 became an official FIFA referee.
