Sebastian Samuelsson had a tough season.
But now comes great news for him.
In the form of a nice mission of honor for the Swedish WC gold hero.
It was a brave season for our Swedish biathlon star Sebastian Samuelsson. At the World Cup, he managed only three individual podiums, one of which was a victory, and four team podiums, two of which were victories.
The WC gold feat
During the Biathlon World Cup in Nove Mesto, it also looked gloomy for a long time with zero individual medals. Then he struck with first a World Cup bronze in the mixed relay and then a great World Cup gold in the men’s relay that will go down in history.

Now comes great news for Samuelsson during the holidays between the winter seasons. The 27-year-old has been appointed to take over as chairman of the International Biathlon Union’s committee for actives.
Sebbe’s mission
In the spring of 2022, “Sebbe” was voted as one of the members of the active committee and for many years he has fought against injustice by openly opposing both doping and corruption in biathlon. Now he is given the finest honor of taking over as chairman and helping all active biathletes by advancing their cause.

An incredibly fitting assignment for someone like Samuelsson.
– It feels very nice to be the voice of the active within the IBU and it’s something I’m proud of, says Sebastian to the Swedish Biathlon Federation.
